Louisville, Kentucky (December 14, 2021) – The Metropolitan Housing Coalition’s Board of Directors has named Anthony (Tony) Curtis, MHC’s Director of Development and Communications, as the agency’s Interim Executive Director beginning December 10, 2021.  After serving 15 months as the agency’s Executive Director, Cathy Kuhn, PhD will be moving on to serve as the Chief Research, Training and Policy Officer at Easterseals ME, NH and VT.  Cathy will work remotely in her new position and is committed to supporting MHC as it transitions to a new leader.  “Serving as the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Housing Coalition has been one of the highlights of my career and I am proud of the successes that we have achieved together in the fight to ensure that every citizen has access to affordable housing.  MHC is in a strong position to have even more impact in the future and I look forward to supporting MHC for a long time to come.”

Curtis has been with MHC since April 2018 during which time he has played an integral role in all aspects of agency fundraising, advocacy, programs, and operations.  “I am honored that the board chose me as the interim executive director and leader of this important organization at such a critical moment in our city’s history.  While there have been some recent successes in the affordable housing arena, there is much work to be done.  In my new capacity, MHC will continue to lead community advocacy for fair, accessible, and affordable housing issues. All Louisvillians have a right to equitable access to housing, no matter where in the community they live.”  Adam Hall, Chair of MHC’s Board of Directors stated, “Tony has done great work over the last four years telling the story of how important MHC’s work is.  He has spent his career in the nonprofit and government arenas and MHC is lucky to have his steady leadership to guide us through a time of transition.”

The Board has organized a search committee to identify the next executive director of MHC and will have a permanent executive director in place by the early part of 2022.  “The board of directors is committed to conducting a transparent search to find a leader who will continue the excellent advocacy and education work MHC has done for over three decades now,” said Hall. “While MHC has always known the importance of safe, fair, accessible and affordable housing, the global pandemic has made this clear to everyone.”    Interested parties should send their resume and a cover letter to the attention of Adam Hall at adam.hall@53.com
