Beyond the Rent: Policy Driven Solutions for Housing and Utility Burdens Conference

On April 7th 2026, the Metropolitan Housing Coalition hosted our first ever conference, entitled Beyond the Rent: Policy Driven Solutions for Housing and Utility Burdens. The event was a huge success, bringing together local policymakers, advocates, nonprofit leaders, and community members for an energizing and impactful day focused on housing and utility affordability. The room was filled with momentum as attendees engaged in meaningful conversations, built new connections, and shared ideas that will help shape the future of housing, utilities, and advocacy in Louisville.

The conference featured a lineup of phenomenal speakers who delivered insightful and thought-provoking sessions throughout the day. From keynote remarks to panel discussions, each conversation highlighted both the challenges and the real opportunities to create more equitable solutions towards utility affordability in our community.

Just as important were the connections made. The networking throughout the day sparked collaboration across sectors and created space for partnerships that will carry this critical work forward. Attendees also enjoyed a day of incredible food from the Mayan Cafe.

Beyond the Rent was more than just a conference. It was a powerful step forward, bringing the right people together and building real momentum toward a more affordable and equitable Louisville.
